History is always the story of changes. The ovation of success and the lamenting of the defeat will also be heard during the course of time. The reports in connection with the government's move to give the last bell for Kerala Entrance Examination for different professional courses evoke a sense of anxiety on those looking at the academic world with a reasonable seriousness. The decision (if it is going to be true) is never for the interest of the students and no academic motive is seen behind it. The prevailing system of education in Kerala is viewed with a sense of suspicion merely on the fact that if it is able to provide quality irrespective of the marks (grades). Who will be the beneficiaries if the entrance test is taken away? What could be the change taking place in the evaluation system at higher secondary level which is already lenient? Will the aptitude of the students for different streams be taken into account? It will definitely create a generation devoid of employment. Hope the final decision will be taken only after serious discussions and perusals.
