MY VILLAGE

Eruvessi is one of the serene villages in Irikkur Block Panchayath, Taliparamba Taluk, Kannur district in Kerala. It is located at a distance of nearly 50 kms from Kannur, the district headquarters. Paadikkutti Devi temple remains as the paragon of communal harmony and religious fervour. The festival or Utsav is a major event in the religious domain and is attended by people from diverse background. Eruvessi Sri. Padikkutti temple is the birthplace of Sree Muthappan. A contradiction about the village is that Panchayath, village, post office and Krishi bhavan bear the name of Eruvessi but no such institution remains at this place. Panchayath and village have their headquarters at Chemperi and post office and krishi bhavan at Muyipra. There had been a hanging bridge across the river during my school days and now it has been replaced by a concrete one.It is well connected with roads to the other places in the district and reasonable number of buses ply. There is an engineering college situated at a distance of 2 kms from Eruverssi managed by the Catholic Archdiocese of Thalassery.
