One day I said to my students to give me their feed backs about my classes in writing. It was with an intention of knowing how far they comprehend the process of learning and to rectify if there is any hindrance. Also I wanted to check the level of language used by them. But one of the students surprised me telling, "Sir, you should be much more edible." I assume that he has misunderstood audible with edible.
Another incident happened in Std.VII. They have a lesson on Owls and after the lesson (or before itself) they would come to know that owls will not sleep during night. That lesson was over and one day I was giving them some exercises for vocabulary enrichment. A sentence was there.... Sheela cannot sleep during night. She is an...... The intended answer was insomniac. But this time a girl stood up and said.. She is an owl sir. She hadn't understood the meaning of the word owl.
When I was giving some coaching for an academically challenged section of students who were doing their B.A., another thing happened. The Dark Holds No Terrors by Shashi Deshpande was there as a part of their general paper. they had a sentence in one of their notes.. 'Saritha accuses Smitha who was used as a machine for her husband's sexual hunger.' But in the model exam paper one of them wrote.. saritha accuses Smitha who used a machine for her husband's sexual hunger !!!!
