Last week, I was given a golden chance to listen to a talk by Dr.Vandana Shiva the renowned environmentalist. The programme was organized in our college in collaboration with Prakriti Foundation. Eventhough I have heard a lot about her, it was the first time to see her.In her talk, she emphasized on the preservation of our environment and warned the aftermaths awaiting. She could inspire the audience to a profound extent by sharing her experiences throught her public life. Referring to a particular order issued by the Govt.of Tamil Nadu, she urged that it is our attitude on the preservation of the environment that matters and not our academic degrees. She also drew a clear picture on the way in which the ASEAN deal is going to affect the working class and the farmers. It was an occasion to rethink over our very concept of development. Thanks to the persons who organized such a programme especially Dr.Bernard De'Sami the co-ordinator IQAC.
You are very lucky. I, being innterested in a similar field to that of Vandana Shiva, would have given anything to be present. Unfortunately, work prevailed.
